Khedives Kiosk is built in Cubuklu in the middle of a grove. It is built by orders of Abbas Hilmi Pasa, the Khedive of Egypt in 1907 by Italian architect Delfo Seminati in Art Nouveau style. It is decorated with neo-classical, neo-Islamic, neo-Ottoman features. Flower, fruit and hunting animal pictures are painted on pillar capitals, walls and ceilings. Situated in a garden with a size of 270,000 meter square, Khedive Kiosk is based on a land piece that has the size of 1000 meter square like a castle. Entrance to the big watching tower of the building is on the first floor. The tower has a middle floor with a balcony and an open terrace on top. It is possible to go up the tower both by an elevator and a staircase. In 1937 bought by Istanbul Municipality by approval of Ataturk, the building now serves as a restaurant today. |
